I just wanted to take a quick moment to say Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there. We may not always tell you how much we love and respect you but we do and just know that you are a very important part of our lives and we will be forever grateful for everything that you have done for us. So thanks mom for being there for us and for just being you!!!
Have you heard about the Million Blog List? I just signed up a few days ago on the Million Blog List so if you haven’t heard about it yet then go and sign up and get your blog listed. Basically it is an experiment to see how long it will take to get 1,000,000 blogs to list themselves on the site. The list was just started on April 10, 2008 and it seems to be off to a pretty good start. The way I see it, why not sign up because the more places you can get your blog listed the better.
Now that spring is here and summer is right around the corner, your pets will need to be protected against fleas and ticks. My little man Aspen has already had his first monthly treatment of K9 Advantix. Aspen is a red Shiba Inu which is a Japanese breed dog. They are pretty rare here in the United States but from what I hear they are very popular in Japan. I will try to get a picture of him added to my site soon. If anyone has a Shiba Inu or knows about them, I would love to hear from you! It’s so hard to find other Shiba Inu lovers but I can always find other Rottweiler lovers. Rottweilers are much more popular here in the US than Shiba’s are.
Aspen pretty much has the run of the house, he goes in and out all day and I can’t have him bringing in those awful fleas and ticks…I just can’t stand them!! K9 Advantix seems to work very well for him. I always try to stock up when I find a good deal. Save at the Drs. Foster and Smith Flea and Tick Sale! Offer ends 5.12.08! This is a great company, I shop with them all the time and I’ve never had any problems with them at all! They have a great selection of products for all kinds of animals, not just dogs. So definately check it out…your pet will thank you for it!!!
The Animal Rescue Site is a wonderful organization that helps animals that are in shelters. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted. Wouldn’t you like to do something to help if you could?! Well there is one simple thing that each of us can do everyday to make a difference in the lives of many of these animals. The Animal Rescue Site began in 2002 and have funded more than 126,000,000 bowls of food for rescued animals in shelters and sanctuaries.
Each click that is made on The Animal Rescue Site’s purple graphic above will take you to the page where you will see the purple button to click that will help supply these animals with food and care that they so desperately need. So something as simple as one click a day can change their lives. I think that we can all find time in our busy lives to help these animals. I am a huge animal lover as many of you know, and I think this is a great way to get lots of people involved in this cause. Tell your friends and family, people that you work with or anyone that you think might be interested in saving the lives of these animals. Lets get the word out and help these animals!!!
In addition to clicking, you can also help even more by shopping in The Animal Rescue Site store. With every item purchased, additional funds are generated to help these animals. And they have some of the cutest items for sale!!! Go check it out and help save a life!
Do you consider yourself a full or part time blogger? I have met some really great bloggers since starting my own blog just a few months ago. It really got me wondering though, how many of you consider blogging your main job or main source of income? Do you think you spend more time blogging than you would with a regular 9-5 job? I am just trying to get a feel for where everyone is at. When I first started this blog I really had no idea what I was doing but I have learned so much already and I continue to learn more and more everyday. I guess what really surprised me the most is how friendly and helpful other bloggers really are! I really appreciate all the help I have received from others and hope that I can also be of some help to others just starting out as well.
I know some of you have been doing this for many years and then there are some of us that are just finding our way in the blogging world. Do you remember what got you into blogging?! Do your friends and family really understand what you do when you tell them that you are a blogger or that you make money with your blog?
I would love to hear about everyone’s experience with blogging. What mistakes did you make in the beginning. What one thing have you learned that has made all the difference in your success? If you had one piece of advice for a new blogger, what would it be?
The state of Virginia used to be a pretty calm and somewhat quiet place to live but it seems like that’s all changing. I don’t know if you have heard the latest about the person or persons involved in firing shots along a rural stretch of Interstate 64. The highway gunfire began early Thursday on Interstate 64 on a 20-mile stretch between Charlottesville and Waynesboro. Two people were injured but their injuries were not life threatening. That’s not all that far from me, it almost makes you scared to even leave the house. You can Click here for the full story. I’m sure there will be more updates to come on this story. This really has alot of people in the area scared because it brings back the horrible memories of the deadly Beltway snipers six years ago where many people were killed. Also, the shooting rampage that happened at Virginia Tech is still very fresh in our minds. I’m afraid Virginia is really getting a bad reputation for violence because it seems like we are always on the news for some terrible tragedy.
In my last post I said there was another reason why I have been away for awhile other than my illness. I just recently had to put my beautiful 14 year old Himalayan cat to sleep because he was really in bad shape due to what we believe is kidney failure, which is what many cats die from when they get to that age. His name was Baby Boy and I will be posting some photos of him at a later time for all of you to see.
Baby Boy had been experiencing symptoms of kidney failure for awhile now so I knew it was only a matter of time. I had been spending most of my time with him and taking care of him because he had become so fragile. He had lost so much weight that he was having trouble getting around. I was hoping that he would pass here at home where he is comfortable but after he started bleeding from the mouth I knew I had to do something. So with tears in my eyes I picked his fragile body up and went to the vet. I tried so hard to keep my composure but there was no stopping the tears! The vet was very nice and said that I was doing the right thing for him by putting him to sleep. She said his heart was strong and that he could have lingered this way for awhile but the rest of his little body was shutting down.
After he was put to sleep I brought him back home to be buried in my back yard. This has been extremely hard on me because he has been with me for 14 years and it feels like I have lost a child. That’s what I thought of him, he was my little boy. I know there are a lot of people that think I’m crazy for feeling this way but that’s just the way I feel. I care so deeply for animals, I always have. The grieving process is hard and everyone has to deal with it in their own way. Unfortunately I’ve had to go through this a couple of other times in the past few years with my 2 Rottweilers Chloe & Bud. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about them and miss them dearly!
I know that no other Himalayan will ever replace Baby Boy but I can’t imagine not getting another Himalayan. They are so beautiful and have the sweetest personality! So if anyone has any Himalayan kittens for sale or knows of someone that does please let me know. I live in Virginia but I know there are a lot of breeders that will ship the kittens for an additional fee. Of course I would rather find someone local but I haven’t been having a lot of luck so far. Usually by the time I find out that someone has Himalayan kittens for sale they are already spoken for so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!!
