Dealing With The Loss Of A Pet
In my last post I said there was another reason why I have been away for awhile other than my illness. I just recently had to put my beautiful 14 year old Himalayan cat to sleep because he was really in bad shape due to what we believe is kidney failure, which is what many cats die from when they get to that age. His name was Baby Boy and I will be posting some photos of him at a later time for all of you to see.
Baby Boy had been experiencing symptoms of kidney failure for awhile now so I knew it was only a matter of time. I had been spending most of my time with him and taking care of him because he had become so fragile. He had lost so much weight that he was having trouble getting around. I was hoping that he would pass here at home where he is comfortable but after he started bleeding from the mouth I knew I had to do something. So with tears in my eyes I picked his fragile body up and went to the vet. I tried so hard to keep my composure but there was no stopping the tears! The vet was very nice and said that I was doing the right thing for him by putting him to sleep. She said his heart was strong and that he could have lingered this way for awhile but the rest of his little body was shutting down.
After he was put to sleep I brought him back home to be buried in my back yard. This has been extremely hard on me because he has been with me for 14 years and it feels like I have lost a child. That’s what I thought of him, he was my little boy. I know there are a lot of people that think I’m crazy for feeling this way but that’s just the way I feel. I care so deeply for animals, I always have. The grieving process is hard and everyone has to deal with it in their own way. Unfortunately I’ve had to go through this a couple of other times in the past few years with my 2 Rottweilers Chloe & Bud. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about them and miss them dearly!
I know that no other Himalayan will ever replace Baby Boy but I can’t imagine not getting another Himalayan. They are so beautiful and have the sweetest personality! So if anyone has any Himalayan kittens for sale or knows of someone that does please let me know. I live in Virginia but I know there are a lot of breeders that will ship the kittens for an additional fee. Of course I would rather find someone local but I haven’t been having a lot of luck so far. Usually by the time I find out that someone has Himalayan kittens for sale they are already spoken for so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!!
